Before we headed out for a day of swimming, eating and firework-watching, I gave Logan a (not very) brief history on the signing of the Declaration of Independence. At the conclusion of the lesson, I learned that I needed a refresher course for myself before next year. I also learned that I could ask Logan “What are we celebrating today?” about 8 times over the course of the day before he lost all patience with me. And I could only ask twice in a row. The first time the response was always, “America,” but when I pushed for a little more detail I’d get some interesting things about telling the King to leave us alone.
