Story Book Land is an amusement park in South Jersey designed for kids. At 37 inches tall, Logan was allowed on all the rides except one. Most of them he was even allowed to ride alone, but Auntie KK and I were not going to miss out on the fun.
The park was built in the 50s and started out as mostly just statues and other depictions of famous story book characters – no rides. My mom remembers going on class trips when she was young. The park is really well-kept and the rides are great, but I guess there is just no way to update some of those creepy old story book characters.
The worst was Moby Dick. A whale character whose mouth kids can walk into and hear and endless soundtrack of mad laughter. Logan was traumatized for 2 days.
Logan’s favorite ride, by a long shot, was the roller coaster. He rode it 3 times in a row, which is the Story Book Land legal limit before a mandated 10 minute break. He also liked driving the car with Grampy, which he actually did surprisingly well. The steering wheel had no effect on the trajectory of the vehicle, but Logan still turned it slowly and accurately based on the curves in the path. Maybe 16 won’t be so scary after all.
