Hotlanta Who?

Published on Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

When Granma Jeannie gave this cozy sleeper to Logan in the middle of a balmy 50-degree Christmas week, I thought, “maybe we’ll get to use it if we visit the family up north.”

Apparently, Jeannie is actually an expert meteorologist as we will be getting plenty of use out of it this week right here in Georgia.

I finally decided to suck it up today and bundled us both up for a walk. Luckily, Logan doesn’t have enough control of his thumbs yet to take a picture of me with his iPhone. Turns out, I don’t bundle up nearly as adorably as he does.

The good news is we both survived. Although, I’ll admit I was considering possible alternatives to pushing the stroller the last few hundred uphill yards. Have you seen our driveway?

Two Months

Published on Monday, January 4th, 2010

Logan turned two months old today. Jason said that’s not good enough to sing “Happy Birthday.” Bah! He needs to learn it so he can sing it to me next week.

Logan fills his day with typical two-month-old activities: sleeping, nursing, pooing, smiling, crying.

We’ll be going to the doctor later on this week for some more official status updates like height and weight.

Meanwhile, elsewhere at the Camp – ah, who am I kidding? We all hang out in the same room all day. I have no idea what is going on “elsewhere.”

Actually I do know that it’s quite cold outside. And windy. The last few days have been some of the clearest and prettiest we’ve had in months, but apparently, that lack of cloud cover is exactly what’s making these days so cold. It’s supposed to warm up enough for some snow later on this week. We’ll see how that turns out.

You would think all this talk of cold and snow would extend that Christmastime spirit a little longer. Since I’ve moved down south, I usually spend the first week of January defending (albeit, mostly in my head) my continuing display of decked halls. It seems that most people here have the lights down and trees recycled before Dick Clark gets down to “one.” I, on the other hand, always thought a Christmas tree makes a great centerpiece for New Year’s festivities and January 6th was the end of the season. And I don’t know if it’s because we had our kisses and champaign and were in bed by 12:15am on New Years or if it’s because my Christmas tree lights were going on and off and then got really bright and scared me into unplugging the tree altogether, but I’m kinda ready to pack it all away. Actually, that’s probably because I know it’s going to take me two months to put it away.

Spitting up a blog post

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. We did. Well, we did if you are talking about the more vague concept of Christmastime rather than that specific 24-hour period where TBS airs “A Christmas Story” twelve times in a row.

You see, Logan and I stayed up a little too late waiting for Santa on Christmas Eve and then had a tummyache on Christmas Day so jolly was not in our skill set. But we did have a great time the weekend before wrapping presents and making cookies. Then visiting with Nana, Grandma, Grampy and Aunt Karen. We saw “A Christmas Carol” at Grandma Jeannie and Grandpa Wally’s theater. We made cabbage rolls with Nana. We played lots of Super Mario Bros and overall we had a really great time.

As you can imagine, there are hundreds of photos to document these activities. Please continue to imagine just a short time longer while I work on posting them.

Six Weeks

IMG_3522 Logan’s been here for six weks now. He’s an old pro at eating and sleeping and screaming. He’s started experimenting with smiling – mostly while sleeping.

We’ve fattened him up quite nicely. At his one-month check-up he was closing in on 11 pounds (or libs, Fifi, if you’re out there). He also got a shot at the doctor’s office and took it like a little man – kicking and screaming. Actually, he only cried for a few seconds. Once he got dressed, he was over it. So far, he hasn’t learned to fear doctor visits and he behaves pretty well.

For more evidence, please click here to see hundreds of very similar-looking pictures in his album.
